The Decision to Write Travel That Makes Sense After 50

For years, the idea of writing a book stayed with me. It came up during long flights, in conversations with other travelers of all ages, and as I looked through old photos. But it was London, with its early mornings and busy markets, that finally pushed me to start. I asked myself, if not now, when? That question got me writing. Enjoy writing "The Decision to Write Travel That Makes Sense After Fifty."

After that, I felt inspired. I saw that people over 50 want more than just bucket lists or busy schedules. They look for experiences that matter. They want to travel with purpose, to find meaning, and to respect their past while staying curious about the future.

One moment brought everything into focus. On Day 3 of my “Eating London for £60 a Day” challenge, I sat in a London café and enjoyed making my budget work. I tested my own ideas by slowing down, enjoying each meal, paying attention to my surroundings, and choosing to connect with others. That’s when I realized the book was more than an idea. I was living it. I titled it Travel That Makes Sense After Fifty.

Looking back, I see the book started not with writing, but with a decision. I wanted to show what travel after 50 really feels like, with honesty and curiosity. It began when I let myself try new things and chose to share my story, hoping it might inspire others too.

If a project keeps calling to you, don’t wait for the perfect moment. Give yourself a challenge, plan a trip that matters, or try out a new idea. Do whatever helps you turn your plans into action.

When that moment arrives, you’ll know it. The journey will shift from a far-off dream to something real. That’s when it truly begins.
