Travel That Makes Sense After 50. Working on a Book That Finally Makes Sense.

Writing Travel That Makes Sense After Fifty has become one of the most surprising and rewarding adventures of my life. It began as a small idea that came to me during quiet moments on long flights, early mornings with coffee, and years of slow, thoughtful travel. Over time, that idea grew into a book with real purpose. The process has never been rushed. Like a good trip, it unfolded at its own pace, with each insight and chapter building on the last. At its heart, the book is about what matters most after 50: people, food, culture, and the stories we bring home. Enjoy reading "Working on a Book That Finally Makes Sense."

The introduction became my anchor, grounding the entire book. It invites readers to slow down, notice the world, and travel in a way that fits who we have become rather than who we once were. Writing those first pages reminded me that this book is not about ticking off destinations. It is about finding meaning, cherishing memories, and discovering how travel continues to transform us, even as the years go by.

Chapters 1 to 3 follow that same spirit. I rediscovered Europe with new purpose, explored Asia with curiosity, and learned that going back to familiar places is a gift, not a limitation. These chapters are shaped by years of travel and the lessons that come with age. As I revisited these trips, I found myself learning again and seeing familiar places in a new way.

Next came the first Espresso Break, a pause in the journey where readers can take a breath, reflect, and prepare for what’s next. These short breaks have quickly become some of my favorite parts of the book. They give space for insights, quick recaps, and a chance for readers to write down their own thoughts. Travel isn’t just about going from one place to another; it’s about understanding what we experience.

The book isn’t finished yet, but the foundation is strong. As I look forward to winter 2026, when readers will finally see the book, I feel a mix of excitement and calm, like before starting a new trip. There’s still more to do, but the way forward feels right.
